Nebraska Softball: Freshman Pitcher Alexis Jensen Shines in 6-0 Win Over LSU (2026)

A thrilling softball showdown unfolded as No. 13 Nebraska dominated No. 10 LSU with a decisive 6-0 victory. This high-stakes game, part of the Shriners Children Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Florida, showcased the best of collegiate softball. Nebraska's freshman pitcher, Alexis Jensen, stole the show with an exceptional performance, striking out seven Tigers and allowing just one hit in four innings. Senior Jordy Frahm also contributed, striking out four in her three innings of work.

But here's where it gets controversial... LSU's left-handed pitcher, Jayden Heavener, struggled early on, allowing five runs and walking one batter. Her replacement, Paytn Monticelli, fared slightly better but still gave up one run.

The Huskers' offense was on fire, outhitting LSU 8-6 and taking advantage of three Tiger errors. In the top of the third, Nebraska got on the board first with a single from Lauren Camenzind, followed by a double from Jesse Farrell that scored Camenzind.

And this is the part most people miss... Nebraska's bats stayed hot in the fourth inning, scoring four runs with a combination of hits, errors, and strategic baserunning. Katelyn Caneda and Emmerson Cope's pinch runner moved around the bases, showcasing the team's depth and versatility.

With the score at 5-0, Nebraska's defense held strong, keeping LSU off the board in the sixth and seventh innings. Frahm's performance in the circle was impressive, retiring all three Tiger batters in the fifth and striking out Edwards in the sixth to leave two on base.

So, who do you think was the MVP of this game? Was it Jensen's dominant pitching or Frahm's clutch hitting and solid defense? Let us know in the comments!

Nebraska will face their next challenge against No. 19 Georgia on Thursday, February 12th at 3 p.m. CT. Don't miss out on the action!
